IT Legal Director for Group Legal with responsibility for IT and Shared Services

With key account responsibility for the global activities of Carlsberg Global Business Services A/S (Carlsberg Group’s internal provider of IT and Shared Services - GBS).

GBS is currently modernizing its IT infrastructure and transitioning into becoming a global internal services provider of IT and Shared Services to all entities in the Carlsberg Group, which includes entities in Asia, Eastern Europe and Western Europe. The majority of the IT and Shared Services are procured externally and are based on a multi-vendor set-up. This offers an interesting and challenging work environment, including among other things negotiations of a wide range of IT and Shared Services related contracts with a global range of suppliers.

The Legal Director will physically be part of Group Legal but will approximately 50% of  the time be seated amongst GBS colleagues, to facilitate a close cooperation with GBS. You will become a trusted advisor and an integrated part of decision-making processes in GBS. You will report directly to the Carlsberg Group General Counsel, VP, being the key account responsible in Group Legal for GBS’ global activities. You will have a “dotted reference” to the Global CIO of GBS.

The right candidate has strong legal and analytical skills with a solid background within IT law. You have drive and a wish, to ‘make a difference’, to be empowered and to ‘take on challenges’ in an international environment / matrix organization in transformation. We expect you to possess a solid business understanding, thrive in a challenging environment and to be solution oriented.

The position

Your tasks will be to proactively support GBS globally in day-to-day contractual matters, including tender processes, negotiation with suppliers (e.g. consultancy services, SaaS, business process services, hardware, software licenses and IT services) as well as support the vendor management team.

You will be working closely with the relevant GBS teams and management and be responsible for relevant training and for maintaining, developing and continuously improving the legal contract template toolbox, manuals and guidelines.

Some international travel may be expected.

Our preferred candidate

  • Master of Laws (LL.M.) or comparable legal degree.
  • Min. 6 years relevant experience, preferably both in a law firm and in-house with either a customer or a supplier of IT and/or Shared Services.
  • Preferably qualified and licensed to practice as a lawyer.
  • Solid experience within IT/Shared Services contracts and outsourcing (e.g. infrastructure outsourcing, services, SaaS, Software Licensing, business processes outsourcing (BPO))
  • Familiarity with GDPR issues (GDPR as a legal compliance area will be run by the Group Legal data protection manager, however you will be expected to support in respect of certain GDPR issues, e.g. in relation to supplier contracts);
  • You are an excellent communicator with strong negotiation skills.
  • You are fluent in English and have strong (English language) legal drafting skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills including cross-functional project management skills.
  • Excellent at multitasking and prioritizing amongst many different tasks, as appropriate.
  • The ability to influence and operate at different levels of an organization.
  • An analytical, proactive and commercial approach to legal issues with focus on cooperation and achieving sound and balanced results.
  • A structured and efficient way of working.
